+ Seven Creeks
Alterations to an existing 1860’s High Victorian solid brick residence on the south bank of the Seven Creeks in Euroa, was completed in 2012 for Shirley and Andi.
Innovative green architectural design with re-use of hardwood bridge timbers and local granite rock boulders cut into flagstones over a non-toxic rammed earth and fines base. Thermal bridging details throughout a steel framework with access to passive north light penetrating through double glazed windows and featured skylights. No chemicals were used on this project and no termite treatment required with innovative design methodology including recycled plastic non load bearing wall and infill framing. A contemporary sandwich roof panel (Tridek) with R 5.0 thermal insulation capping off a green checklist and eliminating structural roof framing requirements. Ned Kelly inspired design elements were a feature of the Cor ten garage sliding doors to the street.
"Ross from MacKinnon Design is an interested and engaged designer, who maintained his connection to our project from the beginning to the end, including the undertaking of tasks ( not included in the brief ) when others were unable to assist. We achieved a fantastically sustainable and contemporary renovation which continues to please us. Working with many constrictions, Ross created light-filled spaces, with clever capture of limited winter sun. Ross is passionate and committed and continues to weave sustainability principles into all his work."
